This is exciting to start the new year with a great interview with an awesome business woman. Demetria Buie. She is from a small town in Louisiana who enjoys writing, reading, helping others and being a mentor for hurt women. We believe that is why she is successful with DB Publications!

Ms. Buie, an entrepreneur since 2014 is the founder and visionary for DB Publications, LLC where they write to make a difference in someone else's life. Her company services authors, hurt women, and writers. Demetria stepped out on faith to start her business when you left her job. She share's she walks in faith EVERYDAY!

Smart, Saved, and Sexy 2: Loving YOU

When I first established the Smart, Saved and Sexy initiative, it was because of the need I had in my life. It was to establish a connection with other women who love themselves, who bury body shaming and excel. 

This year, I'm taking the initiative to another level. I'm reaching out to the women who are still struggling with their identity and wondering what they should about it and who will support them in it.

I'm here to tell the women I understand what the problem is and I know where their emotions lay in their lives, and HOW MESSED UP THAT REALLY IS.

I am here to tell the women they are not alone and we must do something. Actions speak louder than words.

It's time to be naked and unafraid. It is time to tell yourself no matter where you've been you can succeed. It isn't just about business, but your sister (blood or not) who watches your every move in secret, but covers you in prayer.

Loving you isn't just accepting your flaws and telling others you are accepting your flaws, but it's saying, DESPITE MY FLAWS, I can do this. 

For years, MY ENTIRE LIFE before 2015, I thought I was this fat woman. Now, that I am a fat woman and I look back over my photos, I was smaller, just as cute, but smaller. I wasn't really skinny but generally smaller than I am now. My concern, with all of the other women I'm connected with, is what exactly do we see in the mirror? Our own reflection or the reflection of the voices of the people?

This next year, with Smart Saved and Sexy Naked and Unafraid will help shut the mouths of the people and allow the man in the mirror to speak.

From the Pit to the Palace: 5 Steps to Getting There Step 2

In step 1 we created a list of things we could use while in our circumstances; the things right at our finger tips. You should have made the decision to join a direct sales business, start a business or, hold a fundraiser.

Are you using any of these things? Are you working diligently to apply what is necessary? The serious part of this is to look at what you need to change in your life. Your house is too small, not enough food, not the right furniture. So what is step 2?

Step 2: apply what you've chosen for your life to go from the pit to the palace



When Joseph had to deal with his circumstances in the place he was in, I"m sure he thought of his brothers and his father. I'm sure he felt unloved and unsupported in the things he shared with them. YET, he applied what was given to him spiritually to all that was trying to work against him in the natural. He went from the PIT TO THE PALACE.

What have you chosen to do? 

• Start a business? ---do you have a coach?
• Have a fundrasier? ---are you going to use a crowd-funding site? 
• Join a direct sales business?---do you have the small investment? 

It's vital that you do the work to apply one of these choices to your life. 

• If you start a business get a coach to help you find your niche, create the structure, etc. 
• If you have a fundraiser, get someone to help you create a profile on a crowdfunding site that doesn't sound like you're begging for money. 
• Join a direct sales business that has a low investment and people are familiar with. 

These are only a few examples, but you must be ready to do whatever it takes.

Ways to be B.A.D. #29: Take Risks

When you know that you need something in life, you have to understand that waiting on the mailman or anyone ELSE, is not getting ready for a positive end result. In order to take risks, you have to be willing to step out (sometimes out of the house), to do this.

A B.A.D person, we know, is BLESSED, ANOINTED AND DESTINED, but to be this BAD person, without any pause in life, is to press when you dont' want to press. Everyday, I look at my life and see how I can do things better than I have. I look at how to step out and take risks.

This picture shows stormy skies, not just cloudy, but STORMY SKIES, and a sign that says risks ahead. This is the epitome of what needs to be done regardless of what everything else looks like.The hurricanes of life will still go on, but the RISKS must be done.

As a business and lifestyle coach, I tell everyone to use their resources when building business. This means use what you have even though you dont' have any money, or you don't have any help/support.

Risks are not about looking foolish; who cares if you look foolish? Risks about ENCOURAGING SELF!

Ways to be B.A.D #26: Dont' believe the Hype!

I teach women how to be save money, and build business. When they are realize that they don't have to do what everyone else days, the money they invest in me to help them gives them a great return. The problem in some cases, is that most of my clients want to believe the hype in building a business instead of doing the work.

Yes ladies, I'm talking to all of you that have your own business or are in direct sales.

You have to decide that you can't become a millionaire by just starting a business or joining a great direct sales company. You have to do the work to become that millionaire. You have to market, and sell.

The worst thing someone can tell you in joining their business is that you can make money with little effort. No, that's  a lie and that's hype to get you in their game. It takes much effort to do what is necessary. For instance, I'm an Avon rep as well as a Send out Cards Distributor. In order for me to make money, I have to put out catalogs and share my website link (for both businesses). and pray someone clicks and  orders. Yet it doesn't stop there.

Multi-level marketing companies try to get you to believe the million dollar hype, without telling you what work there is to put in; they want your investment first.

Same thing in relationships.

I know a man that stated we all send out the representative first in building relationships, not the real person. The real person shows up later. If it's too good to be true, don't fall for it. BUSINESS OR LIFE, don't take a chance in believing the hype.

Ways to be B.A.D. #16: Understand that you are capable!

Every day I work with partners in building their business and taking care of their life. There are times where I feel so connected to them when I hear them say that they have been discouraged. Discouraged people will agree with what is said, or try to get encouraged. As a coach, I'm imploring all of you to GET ENCOURAGED; don't believe the lie.



When you understand how capable you are, you have already determined that you are blessed, anointed and destined, to work hard and build.

Consider what you want that will help you in the BILLIONAIRE, or  BREAKTHROUGH LIFESTYLE. You have to take things with a grain of salt, but push! The taste of life may be bitter, but your capabilities can supersede all that is going WRONG AROUND YOU.

What are some of your strengths and some of your weaknesses?

Ways to be B.A.D. #10: Use Your Resources

Everyday I am faced with the challenges of using what I know to get what I want. Sometimes I look at life and say I just can't do this right now, but then I look at my goals and say, I just can't NOT DO THIS RIGHT NOW.

I want growth in my life, and I want to build on leaving a legacy for my family. Now, I am in my 40's but as long as God gives me breath, I can handle this. So with that, USE YOUR RESOURCES.

What are you resources? Look around at what you want and what you desire; what do you need to obtain those desires. For one, you have to have a good prayer life, and, then 2, you need move in what God says to do. The problem with some, is that they are waiting on God to give instructions in a normal way, when actually you can't expect that. He is SUPERNATURAL; omnipotent. He can do things WAY BETTER than others can; than man can.

What are you resources? 

My resources:

• talking
• teaching
• cooking
• planning
• couponing
• reading

These may not look like resources to you, but think about it: being a reader will make you a reviewer for a writer or author. Being a writer you can create a blog sharing your expertise on cooking. Being a talker can help maximize your potential at being a speaker, write, and an expert.

Ways to be B.A.D. #9: Never Under Estimate Your Capabilities

Wow! Yes, this is so on point today. You are capable to do so much, that sometimes you don't see how you can do it.

You are capable to have all of what you want, with the resources you have. Another transparent moment: when I was short on cash and the internet was off at my home, I would go to the library and work on all that I needed to; I would work hard to PUMP THINGS OUT. My 'at home' resource was down, but the free resource to someone like me with a library card, was ALWAYS ON POINT. I took advantage of PRESSING in the 2 hours they gave me.

Another thing, when I ran out of business cards, that I ordered, I would make my own at home. I would have to be really careful because these business cards might smear if wet, but it was important to stay in the game of being active in my business.

What I'm saying is never under estimate your capabilities just because you think you LACK IN A CERTAIN area; you only lack because you have spoken lack in your life.

Ways to be B.A.D. #7: Cultivate Your Gifts

Remember the scriptures about gifts? Remember that gifts are given without repentance? Do you recall the men with the talents? Take into consideration all the scriptures below and realize you fall in all of them. The only thing you have to ponder, in falling in all of the scriptures, is are you being obedient? Read Deuternonmy 28: 1-14. It talks about the blessing in obedience. This is going to be key as you decide and determine about cultivating your gift.

If talents/gifts can help you to start or build a business, or in ministry; they can also help you in your life. The important part of using them is knowing where they came from, and giving GOD GLORY. I know that Romans 11:29 basically says everyone gets a gift and a calling, but if you don't use it for God's glory, what are you doing? Are you like the servant that didn't do anything?--that buried his talent? 

 

 Cultivate means to acquire or develop {skill,quality}.

What are you doing to develop your skill in cooking? coaching? sewing? fashion design? ministry? 

In order to do something with what you got, you must work at making it better. Every year, as a business owner, I work hard at learning something new about my industry or my skills. I do what I need to, to cultivate my gifts. 

I implore, not only encourage, you to work at cultivating your gift, and then GIVE GOD GLORY!

There are times in life that you have to know that you can be helpful. You have to know that with and in all your resources, you can help others. Its not about selling what you have or bringing people in to be members of your church/ministry; its about sharing what you know and not looking for anything in return.

God has given us many tools; these things come in the form of gifts and talents. What are you doing to share those use those tools?

I have been in business for 1 1/2 yrs.

Struggles in starting the business: Trying to divide my time between my full-time job as a RN & working on my business. I love my business & literally want to spend every hour of the day working on it because it does not fell like work. When I am at  work I feel like it is taking away from my time to work on my business. I feel I could be so much further along if I did not have to go to my full-time job as a bedside nurse but then I also realize that the bedside experience is helping me to increase my knowledge needed for my Mobile Spa business. 

Triumphs since starting the business: Meeting some wonderful people & making amazing connections. When I start to question whether or not this is what I am suppose to be doing GOD gives me a sign that screams YES!!!!!

Why did I start the business: I started my business because after working for other people & companies I realized I cannot work for other people. I have seen companies mismanaged. I have seen corporations get so big that they lose focus on the foundation of their company. It gets to be just about money. I have seen companies not show a bit of appreciation for their employees. I have seen some things that they allow to happen that has made me say "Are you serious". My clients are priority & when I grow my business, my employees will be priority as well. If you don't develop a business that makes people WANT to come to work & that they enjoy doing then you have unhappy employees. Then how can they effectively embrace what you are trying to pass on to your clients & customers? Your employees are the ones that come in contact with your clients on a regular basis. If your employees aren't happy then it is passed onto your clients and this reflects back to you as the business owner. The client the questions why the employees are so unhappy & questions your skills as well.

My Small Business WHY: I wanted to help people realize that they need to make time for themselves. When I use to have a 9-5 job I would ride the train & observe people & so many people looked so unhappy going to work. I also met quite a few people that say they spend so much time taking care of  others & they do not have time for themselves, which I think is crazy. We all need that me time to grow as a person, to get centered, & to clear your head & just relax. I also wanted to specialize in those that have been diagnosed with cancer because I have had several family members  pass away from cancer.So it hits home. I have also noticed that more & more patients that I take care of in the hospital have some form of cancer. More & more people are being diagnosed. Cancer is a horrible disease that completely changes your life.

Born & raised in Harlem, NY, I always knew that I was meant for more. During college I worked at several hospital to start getting the necessary experience that I needed before becoming a RN.  Graduated from Temple University in 2000 & started working at New York Presbyterian Hospital & I have been there for almost 10 years. In September of 2009 I decided it was time to pursue my dream of owning my own business so i went to school to get my skincare license After completing that program, I went on to massage therapy school & finished that in October 2011. Started Epiphany Mobile Spa in April of 2011.

My name is Stephanie Terrells Wilson and I am the visionary & creative director of Divine Favor Couture which was birth Feb 19,2007 but wasn’t launch until the beginning of 2012. Divine Favor Couture Christian specializes in clothing, accessories, bath and body products for both men & woman on the go.

I was born in Memphis, Tennessee in March of 1972 and have lived in the suburbs of Dallas, Texas for almost 15 years. I am currently the visionary of Divine Favor Couture and the Creative Director of Di Divine Designs. I am a divorced mother of three children, Di age 14, S. Edward age 20 and Sequoia 25. Di is an active in various activities in high school and the visionary of Di Divine Designs. S. Edward has recently started a lawn care business, looking to enroll into college this fall and would like to complete a degree in Criminal Justice. Sequoia is currently stationed in Afghanistan and severing in the United States Army she will be graduating with an associate’s degree this fall. I taught all of my children at a very early age to be lenders and not borrowers. My mother and children are the most important people in my life. My drive and passion comes from the influence of my family that keeps me moving forward to continue to excel towards my divine purpose as well as being a positive business role model not only to my children but other women. My life is fulfilled by my wonderful family, friends/associates, success of our family businesses and a genuine dedication to hard work and divine passion.

My Life

My name is Stephanie Terrells Wilson and I was raised in Memphis Tennessee. At a very young age I informed others that I had a passion to become a millionaire and wanted to create my own business. My father owned Terrells Remodeling Services until his death in 2002 it was through this desire to be the leader of his own destiny that I caught the entrepreneur spirit. I met, dated and married my husband Barryl in July 1997 during this union there were many ups and down but God taught me how to become a women as well as my mission which is to ministry to broken women. After our divorce, I attended college and several trade schools to make myself more marketable within the corporate arena, but after obtaining job after job I still was not fulfilled because I didn’t have my own. The word of God says that “If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed” John 8:36. I have the full authority on this earth to walk in the divine freedom that was given to me before the foundation of the earth. So I decide to join multiple MLM’s which could allow me to be my own boss as well as empower others to do the same. After many years of building other companies and still not receiving monetary gain for my family and I, the decision was made to work a business that would benefit the kingdom.

My struggle with starting this business was that I have so many products to add to my personal brand but I didn’t have the finances available to get everything up and running all at the same time so I decide to break everything into several phrase until I have could complete the birthing process of this divine vision.

My triumphs are that my business is growing and getting much needed exposure. I will participate in my first radio broadcast Tuesday 31st and I am looking forward to television segments after the launch of our upcoming bath and body line. In her own words, Mrs. Lydia Williams shares about her business with her husband Heavenly Homies! This feature was very exciting!!!

 My name is Lydia Williams, my husband Carey D Williams and I started a business called Heavenly Homies Newspaper. 

We registered our business on 2/21/12.  We didn't start putting anything together until mid-March because I was still trying to work and start this business at the same time.  It didn't work, so I stopped working.  The Holy Spirit gave me this idea for a newspaper around November but I didn't get going until March.  

What were your struggles when starting your business? 

Our struggles thus far have been primarily financial.  It has been particularly hard for us to get the advertising we need to pay for the paper.  Because of this, of course doubt sets in, so I just keep talking to God about it, thankfully, he almost immediately confirms that this is what I'm supposed to do.  Most of Heavenly Homies Newspaper's struggles have been from inside the "church".  We are finding that many "church" folk are unwilling to bend on outmoded tactics to get to new believers through the doors.  Many are not impressed unless you have top name writers such as Joyce Meyers or Creflo Dollar on board.  I've been told that "we don't have money for experimental advertising".  For some reason, many church folk don't understand that there are other people that are anointed as well.  I have several writers that have voluntarily gotten on board with me and we're so blessed to have them as part of our business/newspaper/ministry.  They have contributed so much.  There's absolutely no way we could have done this without them.

What have been your triumphs!!

Some of our triumphs are:  1) the caliber of writers that we have, some have written books, have been featured in magazines, have been in ministry for a long time, or are called to do great things... 2) an offer of free distribution for the first month (woo hoo) so our newspaper can be placed in CVS's, 7-11's and other locations... 

Why did we start this business?  We noticed that there were many activities for Christians to do in the Central Florida region, except, people didn't know about them.  So we decided to start this business to compile all of the Christian events in one newspaper so EVERYONE can get to an event and have closer walks with Christ or possibly come to know him.  The articles are just a bonus.

How long have you been in business? Unofficially, I started fellowshipping with women in my home in 2008. Then I officially began both in late 2011.

What were your struggles in starting? There were a few struggles but one of the more simple ones was identifying a logo. The logo had to symbolize a transformation and I had seen several organizations use a butterfly. However, I wanted something different that captured the essence of a woman. A friend told me to research the dragonfly and when I saw the definition(The dragonfly, in almost every part of the world symbolizes change and change in the perspective of self-realization; and the kind of change that has its source in mental and emotional maturity and the understanding of the deeper meaning of life) I knew the dragonfly had to be incorporated into my logo. Hence the silhouette of the body of the dragonfly is a woman with wings. 

What have been your triumphs? By taking a leap of faith to start a business, there were no doubt that I would experience one or two triumphs. However, I did not know when they would occur. To my amazement, the business has been well received by many women who were able to identify with my mission. One of my first triumphs was being invited to speak during a Women’s Empowerment Brunch. To look at the faces of the women in the audience with tears in their eyes (as I shared my message of Remembering Me) brought joy to my heart. It was at that moment that I was absolutely positive that assisting women was the purpose that was handed to me. I’ve been blessed with a gift and it was given to me so I could share it with others who are receptive.

What was your small business why? Running a business was never in the forefront of my mind until one of my previous managers suggested open a temp agency to groom administrative professionals. For some reason I always felt my calling was for something deeper (but I did not know what the deeper was back in 1990). As I fast forward to 2011, my boss was right when he used the word ‘groom’. In essence I am grooming women but it is not just in their careers. This grooming is in their health, their relationships and other areas that they find challenging. Although I have to make a living, when I started this journey I knew it was not about the amount money I would make. It was about the number of women I would be able to assist. But as I have always said, whether it is 5 or 5,000 women, I am on a mission and I will continue because this is my purpose.

Oh yeah its time to get organized! School is about to start and we need to get a handle on everythying.

While buying pens, pencils, paper and more, we have to keep a handle of what has been purchased. How is that?
Get a binder and get organized!

Family Binder:
all of the kids (adults too, you never know)

     copy of important papers (could be in a safe deposit box)

Getting on POINT!

Sometimes we so fast through life that our head spins. We move according to what  happened and what needs to happen later. NEVER, do we move in the right now. We are always preparing for more (or less) and thinking about the past.

It's time to get to the point.

The point of your life is to live right now and to accept today at its fullest. As a business and life coach, I tell my clients that tomorrow is not here for you, today is; yesterday is no longer your problem, ask for forgiveness and move on. Getting to the point is truly part of what is important in leaving legacies. What does that mean you ask? It means you have to consider you children and possibly your grand children and what values and concepts are you instilling them right now.

Getting to the point of your life, your business and your family starts with re-evaluating what you are doing; what works and what doesnt! You really must write things down and pick them apart piece by piece. Yes, write on paper, not on the IPAD. Yes, write and feel the frustrations you have as you do so. On your paper, at the very top, write GETTING TO THE POINT. Under that write what YOUR POINT is, not what everyone thinks it should be. Under that make a list of what you have been doing in the past year to get to the point. After you have it all written down, take a yellow and a pink highlighter; in yellow highlight the things that have worked in pink mark off the things that dont.

This project needs to be done! We are in the 2nd half of the year and you have to move forward and obtain the wealth that God has promised you. Get to the point of your life right now!

The purpose of being in business today is to find a way to make ends not only meet but crossover. The point is how to make them meet. I am giving you a few options in the topic I'm covering called Residual or Recession.
