Ways to be B.A.D. #2: Fast

We're talking Biblical fasting; turning down your PLATE, to get closer to GOD.

Ezra 8:21New King James Version Fasting and Prayer for Protection

21 Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions.

Ezra wanted to fast to get closer to God so that he could he the instructions on his life; the life of him and his family. He not only thought of his family but also his possessions. Why the possessions? WE aren't to keep all of our possessions if someone is in need; the poor among us.
Read Isaiah 58 THOROUGHLY
When you turn down your plate and put your face before the Lord in prayer, you receive each and every instruction necessary for taking care of business and ministry.

Fasting isn't hard.
  • Start slow but give up a meal or two one day
  • Drink clear liquids or water only
  • Pray and read your Bible
  • Tell no one you are fasting accept you husband
  • If you are taking meds and must eat, choose to fast the way Daniel did in Daniel 1:

11 So Daniel said to the steward[a] whom the chief of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, 12 “Please test your servants for ten days, and let them give us vegetables to eat and water to drink. 13 Then let our appearance be examined before you, and the appearance of the young men who eat the portion of the king’s delicacies; and as you see fit, so deal with your servants.” 14 So he consented with them in this matter, and tested them ten days.
You want to be BLESSED, ANOINTED AND DESTINED. I'm not telling these ways are the only way, but fasting and praying are THE WAY.

Motherly Wisdom #18: Stop Running from Your Mother

You will never win brownie points with God running from your mother. Why in the world do you keep running from instruction anyway?

What does the fourth commandment say? Honor Your father and MOTHER?  Come on now! If you want to die tomorrow, keep running.

You don't have time question everything your parents say or do, unless it is against the word of God, unless you're ready to look death in the face. Stop running from your mother and what she's suggesting you do; give her honor, in UNDERSTANDING, and attempting to BE what GOD IS CALLING YOU TO BE, because that is what is COMING OUT OF YOUR MOTHER'S MOUTH!

Parents are to show you the way. Yes, they may have made plenty of mistake along the way, but they dont' want you to make the same. Mothers love on you immensely, and try to keep you protected until they just can't, but even as mothers, we have to step back. There is no TOUGH LOVE in stepping back to the CHILD, it is more tough love ON THE MOTHER.

Stop running and start realizing that your mother....means the best for you!

Motherly Wisdom #12: Pray for Your Children

Pray for and with your children. Teach them how to truly trust God.

When you can get on your knees for your children you need to get on your knees with them; they can't learn if you don't teach.

In this day and time, our children need covering in every aspect of their lives. Too many are dying physically and, also, mentally. They don't know how to handle the trials of life, so they either suffer in silence or lash out. Keep them covered.

The Bible says pray without ceasing, which means, you have to KNOW that God is with you.

Never under estimate your power in your prayers, because God says to come to HIM.

Show your children how to go to the throne as well. If you study Proverbs, you will read it says to train up a child in the way they should go....never let them LEAVE HOME without prayer.

Featured Business Woman: Tina Hines: A True Sister Friend

E.S.S.E.N.C.E. of A Woman is getting back to its roots by featuring awesome business women! Today we are featuring Tina Hines. She is a great woman with strength and a heart for others. Get to know and at the end, when you see her web page and bio, go to her site and show some LOVE!!

What is the name of your business? Tina C. Hines, Life Transformation Specialist and For My Sister Friends

How long have you been in business? Unofficially, I started fellowshipping with women in my home in 2008. Then I officially began both in late 2011.

What were your struggles in starting? There were a few struggles but one of the more simple ones was identifying a logo. The logo had to symbolize a transformation and I had seen several organizations use a butterfly. However, I wanted something different that captured the essence of a woman. A friend told me to research the dragonfly and when I saw the definition(The dragonfly, in almost every part of the world symbolizes change and change in the perspective of self-realization; and the kind of change that has its source in mental and emotional maturity and the understanding of the deeper meaning of life) I knew the dragonfly had to be incorporated into my logo. Hence the silhouette of the body of the dragonfly is a woman with wings.

What have been your triumphs? By taking a leap of faith to start a business, there were no doubt that I would experience one or two triumphs. However, I did not know when they would occur. To my amazement, the business has been well received by many women who were able to identify with my mission. One of my first triumphs was being invited to speak during a Women’s Empowerment Brunch. To look at the faces of the women in the audience with tears in their eyes (as I shared my message of Remembering Me) brought joy to my heart. It was at that moment that I was absolutely positive that assisting women was the purpose that was handed to me. I’ve been blessed with a gift and it was given to me so I could share it with others who are receptive.

What was your small business why? Running a business was never in the forefront of my mind until one of my previous managers suggested open a temp agency to groom administrative professionals. For some reason I always felt my calling was for something deeper (but I did not know what the deeper was back in 1990). As I fast forward to 2011, my boss was right when he used the word ‘groom’. In essence I am grooming women but it is not just in their careers. This grooming is in their health, their relationships and other areas that they find challenging. Although I have to make a living, when I started this journey I knew it was not about the amount money I would make. It was about the number of women I would be able to assist. But as I have always said, whether it is 5 or 5,000 women, I am on a mission and I will continue because this is my purpose.

Feed the spirit not the flesh

I have made many a change in my life in just seven days. It has been heart wrenching and hard to deal with. I have learned that I need to move self out of the way. Can't be selfish, can't be self sustaining, can't be ME. (that statement may sound selfish, but let me continue)...

There are times where the spirit will tell you to step away, and you better or get caught up in the mess that goes on in your mind. Stop feeding the flesh. Stop walking the realm of ME. (selfishness)

People that are still of the world will get it all confused. They think and speak before they pray and ask the Lord to give them wisdom. The reponse of the flesh (the controller) is mean, demeaning and not loving. No matter what the other person says.

The flesh is going to look for affirmation from the world in order to be right. Those walking in the flesh do not know that God is in full control.

So, feed the spirit! And what does that mean....getting in your word and show yourself approved. I have been lazy at this, but I will pick up the pace and get back on track! AMEN??
Taken from bible.com 2 Timothy 2:15-19 (NIV)
15Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 16Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. 17Their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18who have wandered away from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place, and they destroy the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless, God's solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: "The Lord knows those who are his,"[a] and, "Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness."

Be sure to take the time to read Chapter 3, it refers to godlessness in the last days.
Jeremiah 17:5 This is what the LORD says: "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD. (emphasis mine)

Feed the spirit, die to the flesh...do not walk the way the world walks.

Titus 3:1
Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good,

Marriage Monday~~Falling in Love Again

Husbands and Wives (male and female) that are married in the eyes of the Lord, need help!
Christian marriages are under attack by the enemy and his tribe! We have to pull ourselves together spiritually and reconnect with our spouses.

Loving, as a Christian, is easy, but staying IN love with our spouses is hard! At some point we decided, as married people, to take care of business and that's okay. Well, you can take care of all the business you want to, but if the love is lost who are you helping??

Eph 5:22 Wives submit to your husbands................25 Husbands love your wives

**Get your minds together to walk as one. The bible says the two become one...

**Leave people out of your business. His moma can't help you, wife, and her parents can't help you husband. If you can't or don't know how to take it to God......don't take it anywhere. The enemy is out there ready to take every negative word you say about your spouse and put it the universe and let it spread! God help us!
1st Cor. 15:33 Do not be misled "bad company corrupts good character" If you need to vent get it out in the bathroom or laundry room.

**Go on a retreat. E.S.S.E.N.C.E OF A Woman is sponsoring a For the Married weekend to help couples rekindle the love(click the title link). Sometimes we have to hear someone else tell us what to do and how to do it...in order to fall in love again.
This weekend will be complete with seminar, luncheon and couples massage.

Be blessed husbands and wives!
